On Sunday, September 14, 2008 Bears 4 Kids donated 2000 teddy bears and bandanas to breast cancer survivors taking part in the annual 5K Run/Walk in Central Park. This is the premier fundraiser for the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and more than 20,000 New Yorkers, including over 1,500 breast cancer survivors take part.
Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon joined other breast cancer survivors at the Bethesda Fountain, where the 2008 Survivor Photo was taken. Cynthia Nixon is best known for her TV role as “Miranda” in “Sex and the City”, which she has reprised for the feature film “Sex and the City: The Movie”. The survivors were delighted with their bears and waved them with pride as the Survivor photo was taken.
“THANK YOU a million times over for your participation in the 2008 Race for the Cure. The race was a huge success and that is largely in part to your involvement and contribution. We did not think we could top last years race but we did,and we hope to do so again in 2009!. The Expo is a huge component of the race and we cannot thank you enough for being a part of it!”
