HISTORY MADE IN BEITAR AT GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR NEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL CENTER
CHAIRMAN JOE SPRUNG GRACES EVENT
On Sunday afternoon, November 23,
2003,
the campaign to establish a state of the art emergency medical center
was launched at a groundbreaking ceremony in Beitar, graced by the presence of
Joe Sprung,
Chairman of this lifesaving project. Hundreds of Beitar residents attended this event, as they wished to witness the ceremony attended by prominent community rabbis, members of Knesset, and the personal participation of Israel's Chief Rabbi, Yona Metzger. Joe Sprung, accompanied by attorney Suzan Cantor, flew to Israel specially for this event and were received warmly by the Mayor of Beitar, Yitzchak Pindrus.
Among the many speeches
given by the various dignitaries, the remarks of the Chief Rabbi stood out when he
proclaimed, " When I learned that today in Beitar will be held a groundbreaking ceremony, I decided to run and attend, not walk, because Pekuach Nefesh is involved. " The Chief Rabbi then proceeded to praise Joe sprung and commend him for his devotion to the 15,000 children of Beitar and for his decision to chair this important project.
"I know of the important contributions of the Manhattan community to Israel and Joe sprung stands out among them as a staunch supporter of good causes everywhere,
and I look forward to return to Beitar in the very near future to attend the Chanukat Habayit of the Emergency Medical Center," added Chief Rabbi Metzger. Mayor Pindrus, in his remarks, thanked Joe for his unwavering commitment to the 25,000 residents of Beitar, and told the
assembled of Joe's first visit to Beitar as part of Dov Hikind's mission and only nine months later, Joe Sprung returns to make history for the Beitar Foundation and its mission of enhancing the quality of life for the residents of our city.
As Joe Sprung went up to the podium to address the audience, excitement was felt throughout the air. Joe spoke of his life long devotion and care to charities related to children, his concern for their safety and welfare, and emotionally spoke of the fact that if the emergency medical center will prevent a mother from being forced to travel on dangerous roads in inclement weather to provide emergency medical attention to her child, then for that alone we need to build this center.
The crowd then proceeded to insert the document containing the founding principals of the center at the site where the medical center will be built, where Joe Sprung was given the honor of inserting the document into the ground followed by Suzan Cantor, Mayor Pindrus, and other dignitaries.
